Data Rescue Initiative for the Southern Alps

This initiative has the goal to recover historical data in the former provinces of the Austro-Hungarian Empire annexed to Italy in 1919.

The period of interest is 1850-1920, but also later data is being catalogued and digitised.

An inventory of the available data and information on the progress of the digitisation can be found on the website http://before1921.wordpress.com.

In April 2020 a citizen science portal was launched to involve volunteers in the transcription of some of the data: www.dare-alps.net
