UERRA Project Work Package 1

Work Package 1 of the Uncertainties in Ensembles of Regional Reanalysis (UERRA) 7th Framework Programme project aims at recovering and digitising synoptic-scale station-based surface atmospheric observations of essential climate variables (ECVs) for data-sparse regions of Europe and the wider Mediterranean area. Data have been digitised from several scanned images available from the NOAA Central Library of Foreign Climate Data (http://www.lib.noaa.gov/collections/imgdocmaps/data_rescue_home.html) and original logbooks provided by several European meteorological services, including sub-daily observations of temperature, air pressure, relative humidity, dew point temperature, wind speed and wind direction and daily observations of snow depth, fresh snow and precipitation for countries such as Slovenia, Turkey, Germany, Egypt, Algeria, Czech Republic, Lebanon, Croatia or Serbia, among others.
