The African Upper Air Data Rescue Project (AUADARE)

This project, by the NOAA National Weather Services, became operational in the year 2003 for Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Niger, Senegal and Zambia. Data from this work is available at National Climatic Data Center (NCDC) where it forms part of 1.5 million records International Environmental Data Rescue Organization (IEDRO) has helped rescue all over the world. See the data flow chart (Figure 2 below) for the process involved.   Kenya, which was part of the project, is currently dealing with rescuing other data types following in the trend of AUADARE but taking it one step further to secure the old original paper documents in book forms through binding.
